The Cowgirls will enter the national tournament at 27-0, and with Big 12 regular-season and tournament crowns.

Oklahoma State’s women’s tennis team beat Texas 4-0 on Saturday in the Big 12 Tournament final at the Greenwood Tennis Center. It was a matchup of the conference’s two top teams but also the No. 1 and No. 7 teams nationally.

The Cowgirls stormed through the Big 12 bracket, beating UCF 4-1 in the quarterfinals and Texas Tech 4-0 in the semifinals before Saturday’s sweep.

OSU secured Saturday’s doubles point as the duos of Raquel Gonzalez/Ayumi Miyamoto and Safiya Carrington/Kristina Novak won their matches. For what it’s worth, OSU’s other duo of Ange Oby Kajuru/Anastasiya Komar were also leading their match when the point was secured.

Then Novak got the singles scoring started by besting Shachf Lieberman 6-1, 6-2. Obe Kajuru, ranked No. 2 in the ITA individual rankings, then finished her match by beating Charlotte Chavatipon 7-5, 6-1.

Lucia Peyre put an end to things with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Tanya Sasnouskaya. That was an upset per the individual rankings, as it was No. 55 Peyre vs. No. 37 Sasnouskaya.

The Cowgirls’ regular-season title was their first since 2017, a title they shared with Texas Tech, but this is OSU’s first tournament title since 2016 — the last year OSU swept the conference’s trophy. This season’s two conference crowns are the program’s 28th and 29th.

And next the Cowgirls have a shot at their first NCAA title. NCAA first and second rounds are May 3-4. The Super Regionals are May 11 and May 12, and the NCAA Team and Individual Championships are May 17-26 at Greenwood Tennis Center. OSU came second at NCAAs in 2016.

OSU won the ITA Indoor National Championship earlier this year, a title not recognized by the NCAA.
