Every road game makes it more and more difficult for me to fully defend this basketball team.

“Happens” a lot. (NewsOK)

Smart: I don’t think it has anything to do with playing on the road. (NewsOK)

It’s pretty strange to see this headline and not think Marcus Smart. (Big 12 Sports)

I’m intrigued by what scouts think of Smart. (Tulsa World)

When you gotta go on the road, I don’t think there’s many leagues in the country where it’s as tough to win on the road as it is here in the Big 12. I’ve been in some of those other leagues. There’s a lot of talent in the Big 12. (Fox Sports)

I think KU is kind of living on borrowed time, just hope we’re the ones to catch them. (Tulsa World)

Why do we keep focusing on what Lombardi said last April? What about what he said in October and November? (NewsOK)

Another publication picking us to win the Big 12. (Athlon)

I guess we were just on fire. (O’Colly)

This is absolutely insane. (The Lost Ogle)

I haven’t listened to this yet but if Matt Hinton is talking Big 12 I’m usually in. (CBS Sports)

Coach Pierre’s son assures me OSU runs great halfcourt sets.

Forgot to post this last night.

Reminder that this comes out in two weeks.

Dude’s in high school.

When does firecoachford.com website fire up? This guy has more excuses:
    >”We are too young.”
    >”We have too many injuries.”
    >”The Big 12 has too many good teams to compete.”
    >”Every road game is an individual game.”
    >”Although I am an amazing recruiter, I can’t take talent fantastic talent and make them better individually and better as a team throughout a year”

We are done with excuses coach. Win. Get better. No excuses. We are ready to move on from you coach. Thank you for a valiant effort, but it is time for you to build your career at a mid major.

Holder, this guy is on you. You figure out a way to get out of the 10 year contract. And don’t come to donors. WE didn’t ask for a 10 year contract! Who enters into a contract like that? Thank you for killing a once great program. We enjoy mediocrity! And don’t get onto the fans for not attending. This is on you, now fix it!!!

      + 1,000

The excuses Ford uses are almost worse than the losses. He’s a been a whiner since the day he stepped foot here.

      • I hope the basketball team starts playing better, mostly because I don’t know if I can live in a world where Nate is right.

        • Nate

          Better prepare yourself then…

  • lary

wonder when we are going to see one of the “great” sets? (by the way, it would help if players could actually execute the “great” set you dreamed up at night). always enjoy seeing the old sets stil lwork as part of a disciplined team offense (i.e., double screen by uo and then by baylor). but why use what has worked for 50 years when you can have 1 on 1 stuff that works 1 in a 100 times?

  • Ford can’t be serious with that quote. This has to be one of the worst, if not THE worst, seasons in Big 12 Basketball history. Baylor and OU are average teams at best and are tied for third. From top to bottom? Stop it Travis. Just stop it. The ACC, Big 10, Big East and maybe even the Pac-12 are better than the Big 12. The SEC isn’t far behind either.

    • Nate

100% agree. I’ve been saying for a while now this is the worst big 12 league ever.

    • Current KenPom conference ratings:
      1) Big Ten
      2) Big East
      3) ACC
      4) Mountain West
      5) Pac 12
      6) Big 12
      7) SEC

    • OklaStateU

He’s either dilusional or full of sh!t. After second thought, he’s both.

  • Nolo

I’ve never been prouder not to be an Okie than I am now after reading that Lost Ogle article.

    • I am proud that I am from Oklahoma, but I am more proud that I no longer live there…

      • Nolan

Sorry, that’s what I meant. I’m not from there, enjoyed college there, but am glad I’m not still there. Have plenty of good friends who are Okies.

        • No worries, wasn’t offended, knew what you meant. I also have plenty of friends there, but unfortunately some of them subscribe to some of that craziness. Plenty of them are now blocked on FB…

          • Poke

Worse when it’s your family. Hate the mention of politics. They almost make Santorum look moderate…

    • Yeah, that’s embarrassing. I think, though, that you get people from both sides and in any state with comments like that; I don’t think it’s exclusive to conservative Okies; just go to some of the other side to see that’s the case. That being said, I know there is a large Christian/conservative overlap, so I hate the idea that some Christians could be spouting some nonsense like that, when we (other Christians and myself, I don’t know the faith of other people here) are called to do the exact opposite and show respect for the President and pray for him.

What’s amazing is that I always thought hateful comments were spouted by people that were anonymous, but apparently people are willing to put their name and face to the garbage they spit out.

    • Chris

That’s a bunch of stereotypical garbage. There are people like that everywhere, not just Oklahoma. Just check the comments on any political blog / website. Sure Oklahoma has more than its fair share but to paint the whole state in this light is ridiculous. This is a great place to live and raise a family.

      • John

I hope it never gets ruined by those dumb ass liberals.

  • This is, by far, the worst the Big 12 has ever been.

  • CRJ

Here’s my theory. Holder is mimicking the Vatican’s choice of pontiffs when it comes to OSU coaches. Every now and then you get a Pope who is basically a rockstar (see Pope John Paul II). JPII was awesome and universally liked by all. Nobody who came behind JPII was going to be able to live up to what he did, and if they tried, they would fail. Enter Pope Benedict XVI. He isn’t great. He isn’t bad either. He is just a gap filler until the Vatican ordains the next Keith Richards in a pointy hat. This is intentionally done because if the Vatican set expectations too high for every Pope, eventually the masses start to lose interest in the guys who fall flat on their face.*

Holder saw the same thing with Eddie and Ford. While some may argue Sean was a palate cleanser, he hardly held reign long enough to make OSU fans forget about the wildly popular and hugely successful Eddie. Enter the Ford. Not too talented. But not untalented. Not too likable. But not entirely dislikable. He is the porridge that Goldilocks chose. He’s juuuuuuuuuuust right, as a placeholder for the next awesome coach.

You could also argue he did the same thing with baseball. Anderson was ok, just a placeholder after Tom Holliday, now you have Josh in as the new lifeblood of the program.

*This same theory also applies to Star Trek films and versions of Windows. See: The Undiscovered Country, Generations, First Contact, and Insurrection series. See Also: Windows 95, Windows 98 (I’m including ME with this version), Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.

** This entire comment is satire and should not be taken seriously by anyone. Ever.

    • Tess

I am so desperate to see the end of the Ford era, I am hoping your satire is right. At least it implies there is a “plan.”

    • Walter Sobchek

      This is brilliant, thank you.

  • Chris

Ummm, so what did Lombardi say in October and November about Weeden??? Google didn’t get me anything…

  • Hurley

Anybody else find it a ironic that the only two coaches quoted in the Fox Sports article were Ford and Drew?
