QB2 Update
Robert Allen brings a solid breakdown of the backup quarterback battle as it solidifies.
(Keondre) Wudtee has been good, but has had a day where he fumbled some, a day where he threw some picks. In other words, Wudtee has show lots of ability and corrected mistakes along the way. That is what you want.
(Taylor) Cornelius has been his usual, very stable self at quarterback. Those two are battling for the backup role and Wudtee has the better upper level talent. Cornelius is the guy that is steady and would make less mistakes.
(John) Kolar is a very talented runner and has shown it during the spring and he is also throwing the ball better than he did last spring and fall. The issue is that Kolar probably doesn’t run or throw better than Wudtee. Jelani Woods has been fun to watch as his 6-7, 250 pound frame is freaky big while he is freaky athletic. [GoPokes]
In what appears to be a two-horse race, it’ll be a balance of developing the higher potential, redshirt freshman Wudtee and the steady, fourth year player Taylor Cornelius. While Rudolph is a Brandon Weeden-type that sits back and picks you apart, is Wudtee headed towards a Colonel position following J.W.?
Jailhouse Rock
Some Sooners got a little rowdy after the spring game on Saturday, but does it mean anything?
(Chris) Robison and (Ronnie) LaRue aren’t the only OU players to have legal issues in 2017. Earlier this year, cornerback Parrish Cobb was arrested in a armed robbery case in Waco, Texas, and quarterback Baker Mayfield was arrested on four misdemeanor charges in Fayetteville, Ark. including public intoxication and drunk and disorderly conduct. [NewsOK]
Cowboys and Longhorns and Wildcats have similar situations like this too. College kids misbehave everywhere but given recent history, it seems prudent to highlight that this is the fourth Sooner football arrest of the young 2017.
OSU and NCAA Notes
Rickie skidded into the clubhouse on the last day but had a solid showing at Augusta….Solid info on what college football coaches would do with a tenth assistant…OU linebacker transferring out….Mississippi State safety ended the spring game with a safety targeting a teammate 🙁 ….Charlie Strong talks USF and what went wrong at UT
There it is: a series win!

Love the sportsmanship here. It’s probably easier to behave this way in a non-contact sport but competition is competition.
Congrats @TheSergioGarcia
