Blake Witten

A Dallas Cowboy writer has some nice things to say about the former All Big 12 Cowboy.

(Blake Jarwin) caught the ball easily. Large target with soft hands. Can receive the ball at all levels. Aware runner with the ball in his hands. Knows the situation down and distance wise to gain first downs. Showed the ability to take a short pass in the red zone and turn it into a touchdown.

Like what he does with the ball in his hands. Reliable target when quarterback was in trouble. Knows how to get open on checks downs underneath or in the flat. Can work the seam as a receiver as well. [DallasCowboys.com]

Going undrafted to the Cowboys doesn’t shout “future Hall of Famer” but considering the hypothetical is fun. His blocking graded out decently but his pass catching looked solid and everything a quarterback could want. His skills being described as “reliable target when the quarterback was in trouble” and “showed the ability to take a short pass in the red zeon and turn it into a touchdown”.

There’s a reason why he’s the most popular situation among fans, here’s to hoping for Dak-to-Jarwin for years to come.

Whatever It Takes

A quick look at what the Pokes need to sneak into regionals.

For Oklahoma State to get off the bubble, they’ll need to win each of their next two conference series. These are no easy tasks. First, they travel to Baylor. The last series of the season is Bedlam, which features one game in Tulsa and the other two in Oklahoma City.

Taking one of these series should give Oklahoma State some comfort. However, there’s a reason it is called the bubble. Cowboys fans will want to pay attention to the tournaments of other conferences closely because your chances of a regional berth could very well hinge on who wins those tournaments. Dropping a game to a decent ORU team earlier this week didn’t help but Lamar this weekend could help for building momentum. It’s imperative they get this thing rolling to have any kind of postseason.

OSU and NCAA Notes

Charlie Strong got an earful from a judge….A very poorly done ranking of college football‘s top ten coaches….Kansas added another basketball graduate transfer….Cowgirl Softball had a near sellout in loss to OU, hanging in second place in the league….Two OSU athletic teams earned a perfect APR

The spring highlight we’ve all been waiting for: Mason to Tyron Johnson.

Bummer that the Cowgirls lost bedlam softball yesterday.

A Jack Nicklaus semi-finalist (sounds like college golf’s top 30) seems like a solid thing for a school with golf heritage.
