Daily Bullets (Aug. 8): More Pokes on More Lists, Should OSU Bring Back the Winged Helmet?

Published

Thanks for stopping by – here’s your daily dose of Oklahoma State sports news.

OSU Bullets

• A couple of Cowboys were named to the Biletnikoff watchlist, a couple more were named to the Comeback Player of the Year watchlist (PFB)

Illinois is wearing a throwback from the 1930s this season (and it looks a little odd) – fun homecoming idea for OSU to bring back the winged helmet from the 1950s (X+HelmetHistory.com)

• As much as attention is all over Ollie Gordon, Alan Bowman, and the offensive line – it’s their teammates across the line of scrimmage that will seal a return trip to Arlington.

While the defense had some up-and-down moments, they do return ten starters from the 2023 team. If Oklahoma State is to get back to Arlington, then this is where they need to improve.

This take on Jackson Holliday is exciting (the guy just set the league record for the youngest player to hit three home runs yesterday also):

Jackson Holliday has returned from the minors looking like he intends to stay this time, homering three times in six games while keeping his strikeout rate manageable. It’s such a complete reversal from his first stint in April, when major-league pitching absolutely shredded him, that it’s hard not to be optimistic, and given that he’s in the conversation for best prospect in baseball…

• The Cowboys went even bigger with transfer tight end Tyler Foster (PFB)

• This feels about right – blue-chip theory be darned.

Non-OSU Bullets

• Couples who run their family like a corporation

The Lauri Markannen situation (OKC trade candidate) is resolved for now

Fun to read about the filming locations for Twisters – of note, Stillwater in the movie is actually Midwest City/Spencer
