Really good article here on Mike Yurcich. Here is his biggest difference between OSU and Ship: “I think the biggest difference is how quickly defenses adjust to you. If you’ve got a good scheme going into a game, and you’re attacking them, you’re going to hit ‘em once, maybe twice. By the third time, they’re going to adjust to it and you gotta move on to something else. The sophistication of the defense was a big thing to overcome.” [NewsOK]

Travis Haney’s top 50 breakout players. No. 50 is Jarrell Owens: “Those close to the program, including coach Mike Gundy, do not expect Owens to resemble recently departed All-American Emmanuel Ogbah when the season begins, but watch for Owens to surge as the season progresses. He’ll only get better as the Cowboys enter the teeth of their Big 12 schedule late in the season.” [ESPN — $]
Why Mason Rudolph would change places with Mike Gundy. [PFB]
Davante Averette on what it’s like to have a five year old who doesn’t live with him full-time: “Yeah, I’ve got to focus on making my business after football and things like that. My son, he’s young but he knows why I play football, why I do things I do, why his dad is away. Even though we FaceTime and FaceTime every day, he knows why I’m gone. I’ve got two degrees, so I feel like I’m halfway there.” [NewsOK]
Mike Gundy says Mason Rudolph has shown the most arm improvement of any OSU QB he’s been around. [PFB]
Recruiting News
Good Trae Young interview here: “My family and I will sit down soon and come up with when we’ll start taking official visits. I only get five official visits, so one school won’t get an official visit. So I’ll just be setting those up, so I can get out there and learn as much as I can about those guys. I want to take some during football season. I don’t know if I want to wait too long. I’d like to make a decision around December. That’s what I’m looking at, but anything can happen.” [NewsOK]
