Three Thoughts

• The Pokes are officially hiring Doug Meacham – I land on both sides of “this sounds like business as usual” and “it’s awesome to give this Cowboy a shot, he’s clearly got experience to do it” – You can listen to the PFB podcast and hear more opinions on the hire (PFB)

• This is an awesome winter sports weekend for OSU fans – Bedlam Wrestling last night in Norman (pounded the Sooners by 32 points) and Bedlam Basketball at the Paycom Center tonight (PFB)

• Looking at the coordinators selected, Mike Gundy clearly had a priority on one thing: experience.

It’s certainly a far cry from going to the Division-II ranks and pulling out a Mike Yurcich or a Bryan Nardo. And with a lot seemingly on the line going into 2025, Gundy didn’t go with flashy guys who have great potential. He went with guys with a proven track record. [PFB]

It’s almost impossible to quantify how bad the 2024 season was in Stillwater. The Cowboys went from a preseason Big 12 favorite and 10 wins in 2023 to their first winless conference slate since going 0-6-1 in 1994 as members of the Big 8.
