Baylor, Ejected?
Berry Tramel seems to think the punishment of Baylor is harsher than most thought.
It’s not crazy to imagine the Big 12 schools discussing a process by which Baylor could be removed from the conference, especially with a quality replacement like Houston waiting in the wings. That’s the nuclear option, of course, but this was serious business, which didn’t always register at Baylor over the last couple of years. This wasn’t the bad acts of one or two bad seeds. This was systematic, institutional behavior.
Many Title IX issues are at the center of the investigation, and you don’t want the federal government getting involved, though the Trump administration might be a little more lenient on such issues. [NewsOK]
There is a lot to digest in there. He also noted that $6 million will be withheld from BU. We though it could be up to around $8 million, but Baylor has already received a portion of their payout for the last reported fiscal year.
Texas Comes To Stillwater
They have not found success away from Austin.
Texas’ record outside of Austin speaks for itself — 0–10. This makes this Saturday’s road trip to Stillwater to face a solid Oklahoma State club at 3 p.m. that much more intriguing. In what has been a season of losses, Texas (10–14, 4–7 Big 12) has been a completely different team on the road. Many of the crucial late plays Texas has made at home haven’t been made to closeout road games.
“It’s one of the things that this team really needs to get going — just getting rebounds, getting extra possessions, getting extra attempts,” senior guard Kendal Yancy said. “That’s what we really need.” [Daily Texan]
It would be a borderline disaster for the season and OSU’s NCAA Tournament hopes to lose on Saturday.
