Daily Bullets (Jan.17): Late Night at GIA, Transfer Portal Closes
Thanks for stopping by – here’s your daily dose of Oklahoma State sports news.
Are you up for a late night in Gallagher-Iba? The Pokes play Kansas State at 9pm CST this evening – the slumping Cats (0-4 in league play) are ripe for a get-right game (PFB)

Three Thoughts
โข Todd Monken could be following his boss to the New York Giants – is it reasonable to assume Eric Morris will be OSU’s best playcaller since him? (HCS)
โข The transfer portal closed at midnight last night – meaning players can’t enter the portal now but can still commit to schools – here’s a wrap-up of OSU’s last day of activity:
– Former Cowboy Chandavian Bradley signed with a Sun Belt team and tight end Grayson Brousseau is headed to UCFย
– The Pokes added a MAC receiver (PFB)
– OSU added a tight end, a linebacker, and reclaimed a commitment from a cornerback (PFB)
โข PFB’s Marshall Scott points out that OSU acquiring so many North Texas players is only an upside play at this point:
For starters, OSU was 1-11 last season, and while I understand that North Texas probably wouldnโt have gone 12-2 with a Big 12 schedule in 2025, Iโm fairly confident that the Mean Green A, wouldโve beaten Oklahoma State, and B wouldโve finished much better than 1-11. (PFB)
Two Quotes
โข Who knows if anything reported around the transfer portal is real – but OSU fans can be grateful Drew Mestemaker wasn’t thrown any kind of deal by Miami that looked like this, made to Duke’s quarterback:
Miamiโs supposed desperation move for Mensah
Buyout his Duke contract and terminate it Pay around $10 mil total to make it happen Country Club housing Adidas deal + campaign ? Sister supposedly gets a full ride + NIL, current soccer player at Oregon https://t.co/JNd66gGdmI โ Liam Blutman (@Blutman27) January 16, 2026
โข Love this take on how Mike Gundy could have been successful with his strengths – if only he’d adjusted:
Like Cignetti, I always thought maybe Gundyโs greatest strength was evaluation in recruiting.
If heโd seen the NIL/Portal era as an opportunity as opposed to a burden, I think he couldโve found players who fit his program like Cignetti has at Indiana. Will be fascinated to hearโฆ https://t.co/yLLAHKShLC โ Cayden McFarland (@caydenmc) January 15, 2026
One Question
โข OSU has two players in the National Football Hall of Fame (Barry and Thurman) with Kevin Williams knocking on the door – who else should be in the hall from OSU?
Non-OSU Bulletsย

Iโve never seen this anywhere else.
When my grandpa built his house he made this command center where he could see what lights in the house were on, and turn them on or off with the click of a button. Ultimate dad mode unlocked! I want this. pic.twitter.com/455k2f7ydB โ Chris Koerner (@mhp_guy) January 15, 2026
