Who is the next first-time champ?

Only AP/BCS/CFP titles count which our 1945 title doesn’t fall under. So this is interesting. They have OSU at No. 6.

The Cowboys might be higher, but I’m still not sure how long Mike Gundy (and his glorious mullet) stay in Stillwater. Plus the Big 12 remains last among the Power Five programs, and I’m not sure that will change soon. [Tampa Bay Times]

I also probably agree with Wisconsin at No. 1 although I could be talked into any of those teams in any given year.

OSU games in top 100

Bill Connelly went through the top 100 games of the college football season. OSU got five of them in including the one it didn’t want.

Can a game be great if the last play shouldn’t have actually counted? When the last play is this amazing, yes. [SB Nation]

Sad!

Wallace Twins Talk

On their way home from the official visit weekend in Stillwater, Tracin’s phone went to voice mail, but Tylan answered. “Yes, Tracin is asleep. But no, you didn’t wake me up,” Tylan Wallace said. “It was good, really good. The food was great all weekend and J.D. (King) is right, Coach Gundy’s house is amazing. [Go Pokes – $]

Yes it is.

Bedlam will be for Big 12 title (again)

Pretty early to be making this prediction, but I like it.

Count on Oklahoma and Oklahoma State playing for a league title for a third consecutive season. The Sooners and Cowboys have what everyone else craves in a conference where the 30-yard pass trumps the 3-yard run — difference-makers at quarterback. Baker Mayfield and Mason Rudolph return. As long as they stay healthy, the race is for third place. [Tulsa World]

The hunt for an OL

Good story here by Kyle Fredrickson on how OSU tries to have backups for their primary recruiting targets.

In 2016, the Cowboys scrambled to land a late-commitment signature at quarterback after the December flip of Nick Starkel (Texas A&M). With one week until signing day this cycle, OSU will likely have its sights set on several high school pass and run blockers to keep its quarterback upright. Will the Cowboys find a Keondre Wudtee style fit for its offensive line?  [NewsOK]

Can you imagine trying to sell this? Well, you were definitely our No. 1 choice and no there’s no real reason I’m only hitting you up 7.5 hours before National Signing Day … look at my mullet!
