Succession Planning

Holder took a couple questions from the TulsaWorld at media day unveiling some details.

That, to me, makes it fair to ask if he is comfortable with the notion of Weiberg being hired as a next-in-line.

“Absolutely,” Holder said.

Holder has known Weiberg since Weiberg was an OSU student in the early 90s and Holder was still the Cowboys’ golf coach.

“He’s got a great personality. He’s a people person. He is of the highest integrity,” Holder said. “He has been well-respected everywhere he’s worked.”

It was time to catch that cab, so I squeezed in one more question:

So you feel good entrusting the department to him if and when that day comes?

“If and when that day comes, certainly,” he said. [TulsaWorld]

So yes, Weiberg is definitely second in line and no, Holder isn’t planning on handing over the reins soon.

Connections

Boynton’s last coaching hire for the year comes from a guy likely to know how to “get dudes”.

Prior to arriving at JMU, Kontaxis spent seven years working for AAU organizations in the Washington, D.C., Virginia and North Carolina areas, according to his bio on James Madison’s website. He worked with DC Assault in Washington, D.C., and Team Loaded in Virginia/North Carolina. [TulsaWorld]

While experience would be helpful, the D.C. area is a hub of talent and having connections in those gyms will be nice.

OSU and NCAA Notes

Snyder backtracked and opened up schools to a transferring player….Dez wants to return punts again this year….Syracuse fans are made that Tennessee stole their emoji….Two Cowboys are in the top 11 of pro prospects for 2018

This guy has been/is doing it all for the Pokes. Let’s hope he’s got more in the tank to pull the Pokes out of the loser’s bracket starting today at 2 p.m. against ORU.

Every CFP ranking is pretty impressive, only Big 12 team to do so.

Hard to imagine what would possess a guy.
