It me Kyle again, and I know how much time is left on the clock and what the score. Let’s get to today’s talking points as Steven enjoys his day off.

It goes by fast

Josh Holliday saluted his seniors after a season-ending loss to Stetson.

Holliday mentioned seniors such as Jon Littell, Andrew Rosa and Carson Teel during his postgame news conference. It’s those players who now depart the program knowing what it feels like to win a regular season and a conference title as well as experience the College World Series.

“We’re very fortunate for kids to leave here with multiple moments in their lives they can look back on and celebrate and say they know what it takes to win a championship,” Holliday said. “So, I’m grateful to those kids with what they’ve done for OSU baseball and lucky to be their coach.” [NewsOK]

Reading quotes like those always makes me feel nostalgic (and old). If youth knew. If age could. An all-timer.

OSU leveraging d-line camp

Good stuff from a camp OSU held over the weekend in which it offered a defensive end from Highland Park, who also has offers from Texas and Alabama.

That was a highlight, but there was another standout defensive end in attendance in Highland Park standout Prince Dorbah. The 6-3, 207 pound Dorbah is fast at 4.7 in the forty and as a sophomore he helped the Scots win the Texas Class 5A Division I State Championship last season and in the semifinals defeat Oklahoma State incoming freshman quarterback Spencer Sanders and Denton Ryan in a barnburner of the game. Dorbah is heading to Oklahoma tomorrow and will also visit Texas and Alabama and he has offers from all of them. [247]

I checked the tape and can confirm he is good. He’s also small.

Dru Brown Cometh

Are you ready?

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Brown knows he’ll immediately enter a competitive environment when he arrives at OSU, with fifth-year senior Taylor Cornelius already having a stronghold on the Cowboys’ vacant quarterback position, and talented incoming freshman Spencer Sanders joining the fray soon as well.

“I’m going in there with the mindset to compete, to start,” Brown said. “That’s not why I left Hawaii, to sit on the bench. I’m coming there to play. To my knowledge, they’re gonna give me a fair shot to compete for the job, and that’s all I can really ask for.” [NewsOK]

My chips are in the middle of the table for Spencer, but I won’t be surprised if Brown swipes the job, I suppose.

OSU And NCAA Notes

For some reason not sure I ever read this great Bill Haisten piece on Boone Pickens — it’s from a few weeks ago but very good … Oklahoma State plays a LOT of afternoon games (and OU plays more morning games) … Fox wanted OSU-Mizzou St. on a Sunday? Printable Big 12 schedules here.

Goodness.
