Daily Bullets (Mar. 9): Beat the Cougars, Dickey’s Turnaround
Here are the TV details for the Big 12 Wrestling Championships in Tulsa – Go Pokes.
Scores
WBB: TCU 68, Cowgirls 66
Softball: Cowgirls 4, Baylor 1
Three Thoughts
• Tough loss for the Cowgirls in the Big 12 tournament when a rally fell short – the Cowboys will wrap up their season with a game in Provo (PFB + PFB)
• This article talks about coordinators facing pressure. It lists Kasey Dunn first, highlighting that OSU is consistently “among the top four in the conference for eight of the 10 prior seasons” while Dunn’s squad hasn’t finished higher than fifth. No idea what Mike Gundy values but it seems logical that Dunn would have some heat this season (247 Sports)
• Seven months ago it seemed like Charlie Dickey was headed for retirement if he couldn’t pull a rabbit out of a hat and turn the offensive line around. What an unbelievable turnaround.
Getting Preston Wilson back last week was the final piece of Oklahoma State returning its entire offensive line. It’s the most experienced offensive line in the Big 12 and they know what needs to be done to avoid multi-game slumps like they went through a year ago. Add in another offseason of Austin Kawecki and Noah McKinney, as well as Arizona State transfer Isaia Glass and this offensive line should be one of the best in college football. [247 Sports $]
Two Quotes
• John-Michael Wright notes the damage of the last Bedlam on this Cowboy team:
(Wright) also admitted that the team might have lost something in the last meeting with Oklahoma.“I think that game honestly took a lot of fire out of us,” Wright said. “Not that when we lost, we were like to hell with the rest of the season. It wasn’t nothing like that, but (we had a) two game win streak. [Tulsa World]
• The Cowboys are ready to get back on top in Tulsa this weekend.
“It’s been two years, right,” OSU coach John Smith said. “That’s something that takes a lot of pride and really moves you into a lot better place when you do win it…”
One Question
• Would you rather see the Cowboy Basketball team make a run to the Big 12 title game in Kansas City or see the Wrestling team get their first Big 12 title since 2021?
Non-OSU Bullets
• Solid update on College Football Playoff conversations
• Qualities to look for in politicians (faith-based)
