Wrapping up Texas
Five thoughts from Friday night. [PFB]
Jeff Newberry: “I came here as a boy, and I’m leaving a man in different aspects. I’ve grown into a leader more this year. I’m just grateful to meet the people that I did and be able to put that jersey on every night at this level and play.” [O’Colly]
Travis Ford on the Texas game: “At some point in this league, teams are going to make a run offensively. We just don’t ever make a run. It is kind of what it is.” [NewsOK]
Ford on his future: “I’ve been worrying about next game. That’s all I worry about. All I worry about is figuring out how to help our team, go to Kansas City (for the Big 12 Tournament) and play the best that we possibly can right now. That’s all that I’ve been obsessed with.” [NewsOK]

It was Senior Night, and a sad one, with only 4,023 fans coming to Gallagher-Iba Arena — OSU’s smallest-ever crowd for a Big 12 Conference game and the program’s lowest number since 3,995 turned out in February 1986. Tickets could be had for the cost of two burgers and two shakes, but one final time, Orange Nation took a deafening stand against Ford, a closing argument that ultimately will send Ford packing and athletic director Mike Holder in search of his replacement. On the women’s side …
Why Jim Littell might be the best women’s basketball coach in the state. [NewsOK]
Littell on Brittney Martin: “I think Britt woke up and said, ‘You know what, this is my last year. I’m going to give everything that I’ve got and let’s see where it takes me and let’s see where it takes this team.’” [NewsOK]

Chief on the new threads: “We’re not Texas. “We’re not OU. They can keep the same logo all the time. To me, we have like an open canvas.” [NewsOK]
Multiple sources have told Go Pokes that Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy is prepared to announce Josh Henson, the former OSU player and assistant coach and most recently former Missouri offensive coordinator, as the Cowboys new offensive analyst … Wait, the job pays $50K and he was the Missouri OC. Is that a big step down or nah? [Go Pokes]
