• A former Cowboy pitcher was named an MLB all-star – he joins these seven other Cowboys named all-stars: 

Allie P. Reynolds, Mickey Tettleton, Robin Ventura, Jeromy Burnitz, Mike Henneman, Joel Horlen, Scott Williamson, and Justin Wrobleski [CowboyBrew]

• How hard is it to tackle Caleb Hawkins? (PFB)

• I’ll keep beating this drum – landing Drew Mestemaker is a massive deal. Mestemaker may be the highest-profile recruit OSU has ever landed.

And he should end up closer to Brandon Weeden and Mason Rudolph (program GOATs)  than Bobby Reid and JW Walsh (highly-touted but not as good as advertised).

Landing Mestemaker was a program-changing win for Morris, who embarks on his first tenure as a Power Four coach. The zero-star product was rated the No. 4 overall transfer in the nation and one of two five-star quarterbacks. After Mestemaker’s commitment, the rest of North Texas’s star-studded offense followed. Seventeen players transferred overall, including top-50 transfers RB Caleb Hawkins and WR Wyatt Young. [CBS Sports]
