ESPN has the Pokes holding steady in the post-spring Big 12 power rankings.

2. Oklahoma State Cowboys (2): The Pokes solidified the two biggest questions mark on their depth chart by adding Cal OT grad transfer Aaron Cochran and Clemson CB grad transfer Adrian Baker. Both players should come in and start right away. That will give Oklahoma State a proven tackle protecting QB Mason Rudolph’s blindside.

And defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer has an experienced corner in Adrian Baker, which should allow him to feel more comfortable about leaving converted corner Ramon Richards at safety. [ESPN]

The Cochran/Baker transfers weren’t enough to move the Cowboys ahead of Oklahoma but threw some solid filler into the biggest holes on the team. And that’s the thing: other than bonafide defensive stars at each level, what’s missing? I’m curious to hear what college football minds will poke at going into the fall.

Bigger and Better

The recruiting news yesterday was awesome – and even better when you consider it’s significance.

The class of 2018 in Oklahoma is loaded, especially at the top. So, for (C.J.) Moore to rank No. 2 in the state says a lot about how we view him as a prospect. At 6-foot-5 he has great height for the position, but he plays the game like a smaller receiver.

His ability to get in and out of his breaks, both as a route-runner and also after the catch, make him a playmaker at that outside wide receiver position and we expect him to become a fan favorite in Stillwater very quickly. This is a player who has a chance to make a very big impact very early in his career. [Rivals]

Rivals no. 72 recruit in 2018 and Cowboy legacy felt like a must-get for the Pokes, simply from the perspective of needing to grab a top in-state recruit where OU, Ohio State and Texas were able to grab top talent. More importantly, continuing to layer the receiver position is what really matters as Washington, Ateman and Lacy will leave soon.

Happy late birthday to Glenn, the perfect defensive coordinator for Oklahoma State: passionate, forces turnovers and not breaking-down-Gundy’s door successful.

Prayers for Texas with a violent stabbing on campus yesterday.
