Daily Bullets (Nov 9) – Revisiting the Tyreek Return, More Dez Thoughts
Bedlam Defined
Yes – we all know OU won nearly every game from 1947 until 2005 (and most since then) but Bedlam games have been fun, competitive games of late regardless of the odds.
Then (Justin) Phillips noticed his assigned Sooner was hustling after (Tyreek) Hill. Phillips tried to block him but missed. “Luckily, my guy wasn’t fast enough to catch Tyreek,” Phillips said.
It wasn’t luck. It was physics. No one is fast enough to catch Hill.
That 92-yard punt return for a touchdown with 46 seconds left in the game forced overtime, where OSU eventually won 38-35. A stunning Bedlam upset, considering the Sooners were 19-1/2 point favorites.
Now comes another Bedlam mismatch, with OU favored by 20 points Saturday on Owen Field. But who knows what will happen?
The Cowboys have been Bedlam favorites four times this century; the Sooners won three of those games.
The Cowboys have been at least 17-point underdogs four times this century; the Sooners have won but two of those games and dang near squandered another. En route to the 2000 national championship, OU survived 12-7 in Stillwater as a 25-1/2 point favorite. [NewsOK]
When you get all-timers like anytime Adrian Peterson played at OU or primetime Weeden-to-Blackmon, it’s not pretty. But those quirky numbers on underdogs will make you think twice before you pick this weekend’s game.
Good Things Come to Those Who Wait
More thoughts on the Dez Bryant-to-NOLA situation, this should be really fun to watch.
Bryant landed on a contender, just as he reportedly wanted to back in July. And New Orleans isn’t just any old contender—after beating the Rams last week, the Saints hold the tiebreaker over Los Angeles and are on the fast track to the Super Bowl. This will be the best team Bryant has ever played on.
In addition, (Drew) Brees will also be the best quarterback Bryant has ever played with. Oh, and Sean Payton will be the best offensive mind Bryant has ever worked with. [TheRinger]
With apologies to Mike Gundy, Larry Fedora & Co., Dez under Sean Payton will be maximized and fantastic. It’s hard to argue that any more could have been wrung out of his time on the field at Oklahoma State.
I’m convinced any version of heaven has to include highlights of the 2009 triplets of Zac, Kendall Hunter and Dez that never was.

Dez could make a million this year.
Dez Bryant’s base salary is $1.25M but will be prorated to bring it to $600,000K – and he has the ability to earn an additional $500K in incentives. https://t.co/iApstwy8e3

Jawun filling it up for the Suns’ G-League team – those boys definitely need a point guard, could be an opportunity if he plays well.

Cooper just stating the facts.
Oklahoma is now a 19.5-point favorite Saturday. Same line as 2014 Bedlam.
