OSU Bullets

• OSU’s home football record hasn’t been stellar (going back to 2017), and when you look at the upsets around the Big 12, COVID certainly won’t help what home field advantage the Pokes have enjoyed.

Stillwater, like Manhattan and Ames, has become a place where the unexpected can happen. That’s due in large part to the three programs getting a lot better over the past decade or two. Bad teams rarely beat good teams, no matter where the game is played. But part of the secret sauce is the crowd. [NewsOK]

With some simple math, the numbers of OSU fans at the game could be very comparable between last year in Tulsa (half of Skelly Field is 15k) and this year in a Boone Pickens Stadium (25 percent of 60k is 15k) with seating restrictions.

• You probably need to take a few minutes and browse this retro collection the Student Union store released

• Here’s a few words on the running back depth behind Chuba Hubbard:

LD Brown remains No. 2 on the depth chart, following a 2019 year in which he started slow, but seemed to regain traction later in the season. Dezmon Jackson wowed in the preseason a year ago, got hurt, then redshirted, but is right there battling with Brown. Micah Cooper, a former walk-on, has enjoyed a strong camp, as has late addition Dominic Richardson. Deondrick Glass, the touted recruit a year ago, hasn’t yet made a move on the depth chart. [PokesReport]

I’m starting to worry a bit about Deondrick Glass – would love to hear he’s hopped up to compete with LD Brown.

Non-OSU Bullets

• Encouraging development: American Airlines as decided to not stop their service to Stillwater
• Seriously considering becoming a Heat fan – really enjoy watching Bam Adebayo and the shooters on this squad. Really wish the Thunder had done a deal with them for CP3 or Gallinari

Here’s a solid quote on what an expert is:

The physicist Niels Bohr on what it takes to be an expert: “An expert is a person who has found out by painful experience all the mistakes that one can make in a very narrow field.”

Watched this terrific Civil War movie on Netflix – would recommend it. Denzel’s speech towards the end is awesome.

• If you ever hear “Spencer Sanders is a one-read quarterback”, below is how you can definitively refute that point. Also, please hope opposing coaches don’t read this comment on how to try and shut down Sanders.

Last year Sanders was what is often referred to as a one-read quarterback that’s really a two-read guy. First read is his favorite target, the second read is the scramble. The Spencer Sanders scramble is pretty deadly so you need to account for that as their second option rather than another receiver. [InsideTexas]

• The Spencer Sanders/Tim Rattay relationship is tied with COVID-19 and OSU’s offensive line for biggest developments to watch this fall

• Lindy’s has Mike Boynton’s Pokes finishing seventh in the Big 12

U.S. Open updateMatthew Wolff is tied for second after the first day

• Missed this from earlier in the week – OSU will be wearing their Sun Bowl replica jersey against West Virginia:
