Mason Rudolph as a top five QB
Ahead of Patrick Mahomes … I like.
Like Watson, Rudolph had a slow start to 2016 after an excellent 2015 campaign. But he came on strong in the second half of the season, and ended the regular season as the No. 1 Power-5 quarterback in passer rating on deep passes at 124.7. He isn’t the same type of dynamic athlete that many of the other QBs on this list are, but as a pure passer, he’s right up there with the best in the country. He’ll face a talented Colorado secondary in the Cowboys’ bowl game. [PFF]
This only serves to infuriate me more that we didn’t go deep in Bedlam.
Pokes go home (to San Antonio)
Ramon Richards, Jordan Sterns and Tre Flowers are all returning to the 210.
The trip will be special for Richards, who has looked forward to playing in the Alamodome since he committed to OSU out of Brackenridge High School in the heart of San Antonio.
“It’s crazy. We’ve been talking about this since I got here to Oklahoma State,” Richards said. “We always want to play in the championships and get the big rings, but I’ve always wanted to go back home and play in San Antonio.” [Tulsa World]
The more removed from Bedlam we get, the more I’m looking forward to this game.
Gundy loves CU’s secondary
Kyle Cox wrote about this already, but the head man reiterated how good the Buffs’ secondary is.
“Defensively, they could very well be the best secondary we’ve seen this year,” Gundy said. “They have a nose guard that’s really thick. They have a pass rusher that is really good. Their corners are really good. I would say they’re a seniordominated defense. I would say that three, maybe four could play in the NFL. That’s why their numbers are so good on defense. [Go Pokes]
It will be interesting to me to see if we get Road Rudolph against an elite secondary how that will play out. It could be ugly.
Charlie to USF
Also, Lane to FAU.
Let’s run off the names of the seven FBS head coaches in the state of Florida now, shall we Jimbo Fisher. Mark Richt. Jim McElwain. Charlie Strong. Scott Frost. Lane Kiffin. Butch Davis. In other words, recruiting in Florida is about to get wild. [CBS Sports]
How pissed is Jimbo about Charlie, Lane and Scott Frost? Get out of my state, guys.
Yes.
Cheerleading is now an Olympic sport, which means we'll now see a bunch of olympians come out of #okstate. Best cheer program in the nation.
