I realized yesterday that my only elite skill in life is an innate ability to organize the fridge in minimal amounts of time. I am the John Nash of fridge organization. Sad.

Rudolph rising

Pro Football Focus (which employs Zac Robinson) grades the QBs every week, and Mason Rudolph has consistently been in the top 10 of late. Here’s what they said this week.

One of the highest-graded quarterbacks in college football a year ago, Rudolph has been on the rise as of late, and his 86.1 PFF grade ranks fifth among Power-5 quarterbacks. He threw for 395 yards and two touchdowns in the Cowboys’ win over Texas Tech, and appears poised to finish out strong as one of the best QBs in the country. [PFF]

They also called him “one of the hottest quarterbacks in the country” right now. The Pi Phi house would agree.

OU star DT ejects

Charles Walker quits the OU team to prepare for his future as a pro.

This isn’t a huge surprise, especially with Walker’s concussion history. And while it’s a blow to the Sooners, they’ve gotten along well without him. Remember, it was a just a year ago that many speculated that LSU running back Leonard Fournette should sit out this season in order to preserve himself. While he’s had a decent season, he’s also been hampered by injuries that could hamper his draft stock. [Yahoo]

This obviously comes off distastefully, but I think I land here when it comes to stuff like this with injuries.

OSU’s offensive confidence

QB1 talked recently about the way in which OSU scores.

“Once you cross the 50, or no matter where we are on the field, we are always confident we can move the ball down the field, and move it quickly and do it quickly and score fast; or put on a methodical 14-play drive. Whichever we need in the situation, I’m always confident in our guys.” [NewsOK]

I think this is actually true right now which is a shocking reality from where we were just 5-6 weeks ago. I wrote on Tuesday about OSU’s surging offense, and it’s clear No. 2 has confidence in the full breadth of it.

Nyc Burns, gone

As Kyle Boone reported earlier this week, Nyc Burns is transferring. He talked with our friends over at Heartland College Sports recently about his decision.

“There are absolutely ZERO regrets in my decision to go to Oklahoma State. I had a great time while I was here, but it just didn’t work out the way I would’ve wanted. I’m definitely grateful to have come here because it has done nothing but better me both as a player and a person! You just have to find what you want in life, and for me at this point and time, it was not Oklahoma State.” [HCS]

I think Burns probably thought he could slide into that QB2 or QB3 slot behind Rudolph, but he saw the future, and the future wears No. 11 and isn’t going anywhere (hopefully).

Underwood on success

This interview with HCS was also good.

Well I’m probably going to disappoint you with my answer because I don’t put numbers on things. It’s about a process, it’s about establishing the culture that we want, it’s helping each of these players individually get better and it’s about our team getting better. I can’t control the scoreboard most nights and I want the process to be about things that translate into real life like being responsible and accountable. [HCS]

Underwood’s offense has underwhelmed me so far, but that’s about the only thing I haven’t been completely impressed with.

The Big 12’s path

Jake Trotter lays out the path for the Big 12 into the playoff.

While it seemed a rather improbable proposition not long ago, if Louisville and Washington both suffered second losses, and Michigan ran the gamut, the Big 12 would suddenly become an attractive option for the coveted fourth playoff spot. Oklahoma could continue impressing the committee by winning at West Virginia this weekend, and the Mountaineers could finally earn some respect from the committee by knocking off the Sooners. Either way, the Big 12 will come out of that game with an even stronger playoff possibility. [ESPN]

I admit there is a chance for the Big 12, but I’m not sure there is a realistic one if OSU wins it because of its two losses. Berry Tramel agrees with me below.

The playoff dream is probably dead (for OSU)

That’s just the reality of the situation barring a LOT of big losses over the final few weeks.

There just doesn’t seem a pathway for the Cowboys to get into the playoff discussion. It’s hard enough to envision a path for the Sooners, who are well-loved by the committee. [NewsOK]

I wrote about this extensively on Tuesday, and I will write more about it today.

Oklahoma WR love

Are the two best WRs in the country once again from the state of Oklahoma?

I picture Washington and Westbrook trading stories about putting their film-room lessons to use on game day. Maybe Washington will share his concentration secret, and tell Westbrook how he made that short touchdown catch at Kansas State despite the fact that cornerback Duke Shelley, the back of the end zone and even the nearby goal post all conspired against him. [Tulsa World]

Bedlam winner gets the Biletnikoff?

Big 12 lack of love

This is pretty stunning

For first time in the 21-year history of Big 12 football, it’s likely not a single conference team will make an appearance on the popular ESPN “College GameDay” pregame show. The best possibility remaining would be Bedlam on Dec. 3, and that is a long shot as Oklahoma State’s game at Oklahoma is on a Fox network and will be going against several conference championship games that day, including SEC and ACC. [NewsOK]

Here’s the thing. Can you blame them? What Big 12 game has been compelling enough to attend other than this week’s OU-West Virginia tilt? There really hasn’t been one. Which of course stinks. Also this.

So Kansas might be good at hoops

The Jayhawks took down Duke in a thrilling game late last night.

Kansas’ true freshman Josh Jackson broke out with a strong performance, finding success by slashing and finishing strong around the rim. The Kansas backcourt caught fire late in the second half that fueled a big rally behind Devonte’ Graham and Frank Mason III. Expect much of the same for the Jayhawks for the rest of the season. [CBS Sports]

They are going to be terrifying in league play. Also Duke was without its three stud freshmen. Yikes.
