Happy birthday, sis. Ramon will get better. I promise.

Lester to Waco?

I want this to happen so badly.

Les Miles is officially a candidate at Baylor. While the name of the former LSU coach has been attached to the opening in the past, multiple sources have indicated to CBS Sports that Miles is indeed in the mix. [CBS Sports]

Mrs. Pistols’ take: “That’s what they need — something else insane.”

Gundy to LSU?

Can you imagine Mike Gundy coaching in the SEC next year and Les Miles in the Big 12? Kyle Cox, one of our writers, was interviewed about that possibility.

A lot of people equate Gundy with the air-raid offense because of some of his past teams, especially 2010 and 2011. But the truth is Mike Gundy would prefer to run a more pro-style system. He brought in Dana Holgorsen as his offensive coordinator in 2010 to run an offense that would fit Brandon Weeden. Todd Monken took over as OC when Holgorsen left for West Virginia and put up even bigger numbers before being hired away himself. [Death Valley Voice]

I think there is a perception nationally that Gundy is a “middle fingers up, air the whole thing out every down” coach … and he’s really not. Which I’m fine with.

New Wrestlers

This will shock you, but Oklahoma State signed four in-state studs to wrestle for them next year.

“We didn’t have to go far from home for this class,” OSU coach John Smith said. We signed four Oklahoma kids, which is exciting for me. This is a good start.” [NewsOK]

I wonder what it feels like to be the Nick Saban of wrestling recruiting.

Come play for me.

Nah, I’m good.

Play for me or you’ll never make it anywhere in life.

What time do you want me there?

On WR Unity

This on the closeness of the OSU WRs is good.

There’s a primary weapon, Biletnikoff Award semifinalist James Washington, however he might be most responsible for the selfless mentality spread wide left to wide right and in between. Washington is the anti-diva. “This is probably the year where I’ve been the closest with every guy on the team,” Washington said. “We’re all brothers.” [NewsOK]

It’s easy to do when The Prez is your No. 1 guy.

Rudolph best ever?

Berry Tramel says if Rudolph comes back to OSU, he’s probably going to go down as the best QB in Oklahoma State history.

Give Rudolph another year like this, and the honor would be Rudolph’s. Like I wrote about Baker Mayfield and OU, OSU never has had a quarterback with three seasons like this. Weeden was superb for two. But if Rudolph is superb for two, plus a really quality sophomore season, there’s not much of a debate. [NewsOK]

In my mind it will always be Weeden, but Rudolph can certainly be the most-accomplished. He basically has to win it all next year to surpass No. 3 to me, though since Weeden already got them into the final four (that didn’t exist yet).

Is TCU peaking?

TCU keeps insisting TCU is peaking as the end of the season draws near, but the three-game run before they put a fork in Baylor was ugly.

TCU, before the Baylor breakthrough, endured a three-game stretch in which it averaged 19.3 points (108th nationally and ninth in the Big 12), and 361.3 yards (94th, ninth), 5.1 yards per play (95th, ninth) and managed a 28.2-percent third-down conversion rate (120th, last).

Hill was even worse statistically. His 21.9 QBR of in Weeks 6 through 9 ranked as worst nationally among passers who attempted more than 75 throws. [ESPN]

It would be very Oklahoma State of Oklahoma State to catch this team at the wrong time of the year, but I’m not completely convinced TCU isn’t just trying to talk itself into the fact that it is a better team than it actually is. Saturday will (obviously) be telling.

Solomon improves

Brad Underwood has a theory for why Mitch Solomon was better on Wednesday.

Mitchell Solomon, who fouled out in six minutes Monday, provided seven points and six rebounds. And that came after he suffered a gash to his head, requiring two staples to close it up, as well as a new blood-free No. 43 jersey in place of his usual No. 41.

“He got a couple staples in the head and by gollee, it helped him,” Underwood said, joking. “We’ll take those numbers from our frontcourt every single night out.” [NewsOK]

I laughed. Also, I laughed at this.

Finished Ta-Nehisi Coates’ Between The World And Me last night. I wanted to love it, but I didn’t. Premise was fine, and he has a fascinating worldview, but I didn’t love the writing.
