Oklahoma State returns to a familiar formula for winning the Big 12. [PFB]

Ranking the top 10 college QBs right now. This is Rudolph’s first appearance on this list in 2016, after ranking as the top-graded returning QB in passing grade entering the season. He had a couple of rough outings earlier in the year, but was simply outstanding in Oklahoma State’s upset win over West Virginia this weekend.

He completed 26 of 32 aimed passes for 291 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions, and on the 13 (of a total 39) dropbacks when he was under pressure, Rudolph produced an excellent 136.2 passer rating. [Pro Football Focus]

Oklahoma State No. 18 in the first CFB Playoff rankings. A&M gonna hang a national title banner for being No. 1. [PFB]

Max Olson on Mike Gundy: “I do think Gundy is still a little underrated nationally. I looked up a few of this year’s “best college football coaches” lists you refer to and Gundy was in the 16-17 range. That seems about right, but the longevity of success he’s had in Stillwater is pretty darn impressive – as the 100-win plateau attests – and because he’s already at his alma mater, his name doesn’t often get thrown around when the big jobs open up. If wonder if that changes this winter.” [ESPN]

The 2016 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award candidates have been reduced to the top five of the country’s college quarterbacks. Two of the top college quarterbacks compete in the Big 12. Neither is Mason Rudolph. [Big 12]

OSU is not scoring enough in the red zone. [PFB]

The last time OSU didn’t play any night games in its home schedule? Sometime in the early- to mid-1980s, it is believed, as the school added lights to the stadium, then Lewis Field, in 1985. [NewsOK]

This on 4th quarter scoring from the guys at CRFF is really good. I had a note to write something about this, but holding teams to under five points on average in the 4th quarter is excellent. [CRFF]

Hoops News

Five thoughts on OSU’s win. [PFB]

Brad Underwood on freshman Lindy Waters: “I was really excited for him tonight to see how his temperament and how his pace was. Usually, freshmen get sped up in their head, the game plays out fast for them. Lindy plays with unbelievable tempo and unbelievable pace. His IQ is very high. He’s just going to continue to get better as he gains confidence.” [NewsOK]

Awesome breakdown here of Brad Underwood’s spread offense. [PFB]

More Underwood: One stat I always look for is the opponents assist (Pitt State only had 8 assists on 49 field goal attempts). That means they are not running their stuff. They are not creating opportunities off of what they practice every single day. We forced 29 turnovers. Those are opportunities. We are plus-17 in field goal attempts. I will take that every night.” [Go Pokes]
