Mark Cooper on the Cardiac Cowboys: But give them this: They’ve saved their best for big spots in the season. These type of wins not only elevate OSU in the rankings, they keep the Cowboys in contention into the season’s final month. [Tulsa World]
This from Mike Gundy was great — he deflected praise on a day that should have been all about him. [PFB]
OUS moves into the top 25 in both polls. [PFB]
Glenn Spencer on how he views his defense: “Whatever it takes to steal possessions against a good team. A three-and-out punt would be fine but it wouldn’t have given us such good field position. Where it happens is two-fold.” [O’Colly]
Dana Holgorsen was very impressed with Oklahoma State after the game on Saturday. His comments here. [PFB]

1945 National Title
This on the 1945 title from Kyle Fredrickson is great: Watson was a senior at A&M, the same year he married his college sweetheart, Maxine. She was the student newspaper reporter. He was the football star. It’s remarkable they even met in that school cafeteria, because Watson planned on going to war. [NewsOK]

Big 12 rankings
ESPN has OSU No. 2 in the conference. This might seem like a big jump, but a 37-20 win over undefeated West Virginia made one heck of a statement and was quite a way to give Mike Gundy his 100th victory as head coach. The 6-2 Cowboys are right back in this Big 12 championship hunt and have a Top 25-caliber team with a lot of strengths but also four tough games left, with three of them on the road. [ESPN]
Berry Tramel has OSU No. 1 in his Big 12 power rankings. Biased media! [NewsOK]
Here are the actual standings.

Hoops News
Brad Underwood has the personnel in place to have an overachieving first season in Stillwater, but he needs quality mileage out of Solomon in the post. The 6-9 big man averaged 3.7 points and 3.9 rebounds last season; if he doubles those numbers then the Cowboys should be right in play for an NCAA bid. [USports]
