How plays get called in from the sideline. This is part of the issue for me, I guess. I’m all for deception, but sometimes it feels like OSU is more worried about not getting its plays deciphered than it is with having a smooth-flowing system that has everyone on the same page. [NewsOK]
Uniform preview for Saturday. [PFB]
Here’s a hard-to-believe fact: By 6:30 p.m. or so on Saturday, Oklahoma State’s 2016 season will be half over. While the first six weeks have not been a smooth ride, they have been a fast one. [Tulsa World]
This is fine if you’re looking at Big 12 teams only I suppose. Though I don’t know how to differentiate between, say, Kansas State and Texas Tech. They play at wildly different paces. When those games roll around, we’re bound to hear about the new math, but if OSU is going to be in the hunt, it’s likely to come down to one simple number. Being No. 1 in scoring defense. [NewsOK]
OKC Dave siren! OKC Dave Siren! He looks at where OSU’s offense and defense ranks nationally in an advanced stats deep dive. Also, it’s funny. [PFB]
Nooooooooooooooooo! [PFB]

Around the league
Let’s play a game. Is this comment from a fan about OSU or OU? “It’s easy to get frustrated, but I went to school in the ’90s. I saw what it was like before, and we’ve seen what it’s like at other schools. And we win with dignity with our guy.” [NewsOK]
The night games are about even. The difference is that the Big 12 gets a few more 11 a.m. kickoffs, the SEC a few more afternoon kickoffs. One more reason for Sooner fans to be disgusted with the Big 12. [NewsOK]
Other Sports
Hey, OSU beat Texas Tech in soccer last night. [okstate]
More Stuff I’m reading
This book on the invention of the Air Raid by Hal Mumme and Mike Leach was spectacular. A must read if you’re interested in CFB at all. I learned a lot (like the fact that Dana Holgorsen played WR for Mumme at Iowa Wesleyan). [GoodReads]
