Daton Fix made the finals of the World Championships on Saturday and came out of the tournament with a second-place finish.

Fix faced Russian Abasgadzhi Magomedov in the medal match final.

The first exchange in the match resulted in a called two for Magomedov. Fix’s corner challenged and the call was reversed making it a 0-0 match.

Shortly after, Fix was put on the shot clock. After 30 seconds, he was unable to secure a takedown and gave up the shot clock point, but nearly finished a shot on the edge. He was able to get a push out to make it 1-1 and lead on criteria at the end of the first.

In the second, Fix was put on the shot clock again. He attempted a takedown and was countered and scored on. This takedown coupled with the shot clock point made it 4-1 Magomedov. There was no more scoring in the match and Fix fell 4-1 finishing with a silver.

This was the first Senior World Medal for Fix and the first by an Oklahoma State wrestler since Daniel Cormier won bronze in 2007.
