Daton Fix to Make College Debut at the Reno Tournament of Champions

Freshman Daton Fix will be making his highly-anticipated college debut at the Reno Tournament of Champions December 17th in Reno, Nevada.
Assistant coach Chris Perry stepped in for Coach Smith on the coach’s show Thursday. He and Rex Holt discussed the upcoming Reno tournament and confirmed they would be sending all of their redshirts, including Fix, to Reno.
This is traditionally a pretty solid tournament. The full list of entries has not been released yet, but the highest-ranked 125-pound wrestler that has this tournament on his schedule is No. 6 Taylor Lamont of Utah Valley. Lamont was this week’s NCAA Wrestler of the Week after winning the Cliff Keen Tournament in Vegas and knocking off top seed Ethan Lizak of Minnesota, and numerous other ranked wrestlers on his way to the title.
Other notable redshirts to watch out for here are Joe Smith and Kaden Gfeller. The starters will not likely be there as they’ll be at the Northern Colorado dual the next day, but we could also see Boo Lewallen, Tristan Moran, and a number of other guys you may want to keep your eye on.
