Defensive End Cole Walterscheid Arrested, Charged With Public Intoxication

It had been a long time since a football player at Oklahoma State had been in trouble. This season has been smoothing sailing when it comes to injuries and arrests. Until last weekend apparently. Defensive end Cole Walterscheid was arrested and charged with public intoxication on Saturday, according to the O’Colly.

An OSUPD officer noticed Walterscheid, who appeared to be sleeping or passed out on top of an object, about 1:55 a.m. Sunday in a grass lot north of the 800 block of West Tyler Street, according to the affidavit.

When the officer approached and shined his spotlight, he noticed the object Walterscheid was on was a Jimmy John’s delivery driver car topper, according to the affidavit. Walterscheid reportedly began to approach the officer’s vehicle while carrying the car topper, walking unsteadily.

When asked what he was doing, Walterscheid reportedly told the officer he was walking home and that he got the car topper “at work.” The officer asked Walterscheid whether if he worked at Jimmy John’s, and Walterscheid replied, “No, that’s not from Jimmy John’s,” according to the affidavit.

So that’s not great. Walterscheid has 20 tackles on the season including 5.5 for loss and two sacks. He has been a nice stopgap for an injured Jordan Brailford at the defensive end position.

“He was 6’6” 205 when he got here,” head coach Mike Gundy said earlier in the year of the redshirt sophomore. “He’s got a big dad – tall dad. Mom’s pretty good size for a female. So we were hoping he would grow into this. But he’s got tremendous work habits, a great attitude, he loves to play football.”

Mike Gundy does not have a press conference on Monday so it will be interesting to see how OSU handles this.
