Eddie Sutton Named Finalist for Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame
For the fifth time in his lifetime, Eddie Sutton has been named a finalist for the basketball hall of fame.
Sutton, who’s now 79, was one of fourteen nominees announced at a news conference in Toronto this week. He won 806 games and made three final four appearances, including NCAA tournament appearances with four teams. He helped lead the Pokes to the big dance 13 times, and made two final four appearances in 1995 and 2004.
Eddie Sutton is the only Div. I coach to win 800 games and not be elected into the hall.
The 2016 class will be announced April 4 in Houston at the Final Four.
