Oklahoma State officially announced two other assistant coaches who will follow Eric Morris up I-35 to Stillwater.

Patrick Cobbs will coach the Cowboys’ running backs and will be OSU’s run-game coordinator. Ike Eguae will serve as an assistant D-line coach.

Cobbs is a North Texas alum and had been on staff since 2019 — years before Morris got to town. This will be Cobbs’ first college coaching gig away from his alma mater, leaving some to wonder if he would stay at UNT.

He was named FootballScoop’s Running Backs Coach of the Year after coaching freshman Caleb Hawkins to the national lead in scoring, total TDs and rushing touchdowns while ranking sixth in all-purpose yards per game and 17th in yards per carry.

Cobbs is a Shawnee native (as is Hawkins). He played at UNT from 2001 to 2005 and left as the program’s all-time leader in rushing yards with 4,050 to go with 36 rushing scores. He would go on to play 54 games with the Miami Dolphins.

Eguae is another guy who will have gone from Sam Houston to North Texas to Oklahoma State with new defensive coordinator Skyler Cassity.

Eguae graduated from Pittsburg State in 2007 and started coaching college defensive lines in 2009, jumping around the lower levels before jumping up to the FBS with Cassity at Sam Houston.
