Oklahoma State Hiring Sean Brophy as Offensive Coordinator

A big piece to Eric Morris’ first offensive staff as the Cowboys’ coach got put in place Thursday.

Sean Brophy will follow Morris from North Texas to be Oklahoma State’s offensive coordinator. Brophy coached UNT’s quarterbacks and was the passing game coordinator. He’ll also be in charge of the Cowboys’ quarterbacks in Stillwater.

Brophy has been with Morris for a while now. It started when Brophy was a quarterback at Incarnate Word, where Morris was Brophy’s coach for two seasons.

Brophy then joined Morris’ staff as a quality control coach at Incarnate Word in 2021 before following him to Washington State as a graduate assistant in 2022.

When Morris got the UNT job, Brophy came on as the Mean Green’s QB coach and picked up the passing game coordinator title ahead of the 2025 season.

Morris is still set to call plays for the Cowboys, as he did at UNT. Jordan Davis, Morris’ OC at UNT, took the OC job at East Carolina.

Brophy and Morris led UNT to the No. 2 passing offense in the nation, averaging 323.2 pass yards a game this season. UNT quarterback Drew Mestemaker leads the nation in passing with 4,129 yards — 448 yards more than second-place Sawyer Robertson (Baylor).

Before Mestemaker, Chandler Morris threw for 3,774 yards and 31 touchdowns under Brophy in 2024, and Chandler Rogers threw for 3,382 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2023.

This is the first offensive hire to officially be announced, but a report surfaced Wednesday that said Nick Edwards will join the OSU staff as the Cowboys’ receivers coach.
