Recruiting
Evaluation of OL Commit Ryan McCollum
Oklahoma State has a loaded 2016 recruiting class that addresses several areas of need, most importantly the cornerback and offensive line positions.
There may not be another recruit more important than offensive lineman Ryan McCollum from Klein Oak, Texas. McCollum has blossomed into an impressive right tackle, and has been flat out dominant this season.
McCollum has the frame to grow at the next level as well, which should certainly help him in Stillwater. He’s a 6-foot-6, 270-pound prospect who will likely need to pack 20-30 more pounds before seeing the field. But his understanding of leverage at the high school level is beyond impressive, albeit with lesser competition, and his mean streak on the field is something the Cowboys desperately could use.
Check out his highlight video below from the first of his senior season and keep an eye on the mean streak I mentioned. I counted 5 pancake blocks, and to me, he stands head and shoulders over the competition. Just take a look at this picture with him and his 6-foot quarterback. He’s not tiny.
