Father of Five-Star Guard Trae Young Suggests Son Won’t Pick OU
A column written by the Norman Transcript criticizing the play of Norman North — and the shot selection of its point guard Trae Young — elecited an interesting response from a notable parent of a notable player: Five-star point guard Trae Young.
Here’s what his dad said in response below in a screengrab via The Oklahoman. The tweet had been deleted as of midnight on Saturday.

It he actually counting them out? Who knows. Trae plays his cards tight to the vest. But if Young was in fact considering cutting the Sooners, it could be a huge development in his recruitment.
The five-star prospect is considering OU, OSU, Kansas, and Kentucky. And in the eyes of many 247sports experts, OU is second in the clubhouse just behind Kansas.
The way Young has played out his recruitment, it’s unlikely we see him make any announcement if a school falls off his list. I expect his next announcement to be a commitment to the school of his choosing. But if this is more than just an angry response to a poorly written column, it could boost Oklahoma State’s chances at the top prospect in the state.
