Football recruiting update: offensive line bolstered for 2015
The Pokes also have a lot of other defensive recruits in the queue.
This summer has been a busy as always for Mike Gundy and his staff as they are setting themselves up for a potentially great 2015 recruiting class.
With 10 recruits already, the class is off to a solid start. Last week they added not one, but two offensive linemen to fill one of the biggest needs in the class. In this summer recap we’ll get you up to speed on a few of OSU’s top prospects including a trio of 5-star recruits.Â
New Commits
Joshua Jones, 6’6 276 pound OT from Houston, Texas (ESPN, Rivals, Scout, 247)
One of the greatest needs for the 2015 class is to sure up depth on the offensive line. This week was huge in achieving that. Jones selected Oklahoma State over TCU and Texas Tech on Monday.

Good read here on his decision and new O-Line Coach Connelly’s impact on it (Scout)
Brandon Pertile, 3-star 6’6 300 pound OT from Mesa, Arizona Mesa CC (ESPN, Rivals, 247)
The offensive line got more much needed depth when Pertile joined Jones in committing to the Cowboys. In his solid 6’6 300 pound frame, I’d expect Pertile to compete for playing time right away.

Prospects
Kendall Sheffield, 5-star 6 ft 180 pound CB from Missouri City, Texas (ESPN, Rivals, 247)
There’s been a lot of chat within the coaches and players to make Oklahoma State Cornerback U and that moniker would get a huge boost with a commitment from Sheffield. The Cowboys are in his top 12 among all the heavy hitters in college football.
Kendall Sheffield top 12 (no order):

Tim Settle, 5-star 6’3 325 pound DT from Manassas, Virginia (ESPN, Rivals, Scout, 247)
Settle has an offer from all the powerhouses. Oklahoma State is likely an underdog to get a commitment from Settle, but that isn’t stopping the coaching staff. The Virginia product is at the top of the prospect board for the Cowboys.
It’s hard to argue with his choices here.

Josh Wariboko, 4-star 6’4 319 pound OG from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (ESPN, Rivals, Scout, 247)
The states top prospect was on a visit recently and I’m sure got some encouragement from Poke commit Norman North’s John Kolar.

Tyron Johnson, 5-star 6’1 185 pound WR from New Orleans, Louisiana (ESPN, Rivals, Scout, 247)
Johnson has shown interest in OSU, but it sounds like LSU and Texas Tech are the teams to beat thus far.
5-Star WR Tyron Johnson has high interest in these programs. #TTU, #LSU #OKState. ($) http://t.co/3H7Ge96kiL

DeAndre McNeal, 4-star 6’2 200 pound OLB from Mesquite, Texas (ESPN, Rivals, Scout, 247)
The linebacker position is a definite need in the 2015 class and it looks like McNeal is a prime target for Oklahoma State.

Old commits
Ronald Jones II, 4-star 6 ft 185 pound Running Back from McKinney, Texas (ESPN, Rivals, Scout, 247)
After a recent visit to Texas A&M, Jones reaffirmed his commitment to Oklahoma State. Jones is undoubtedly the prized recruit for the Pokes thus far. Lets hope his commitment holds throughout the season. If his twitter account is any indication, Jones is pumped to be a Cowboy.
