Jawun Evans returned home last week to watch the Cowboy football team dismantle Tulsa. After the game, Jawun took the opportunity to catch up with some of his former teammates and coaches while working out at the Cowboy basketball facilities.

“I’ve actually been having a lot of fun, just being back with the players, teammates, you know just being back on the field and with all of the fans,” said Evans.

Jawun also expressed his excitement for new head coach Mike Boynton and the Oklahoma State basketball program.

“He’s a great guy, a great coach … he’s going to be there for the players on and off the court. He’s going to be a great guy just to be around.”

Since leaving Stillwater, Evans has been training for the upcoming NBA season after being drafted 39th overall by the Los Angeles Clippers. In the Las Vegas Summer League, Evans averaged 8.4 points and 4.2 assists for his new team.

“The team has taken me in under their wing, and all the vets have shown me the ropes,” he said. “Everything has been a smooth ride.”

The Clippers will open their season against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 19th. The game will tip off at 9:30 central time and will air on TNT. Mark this date on your calendar, Cowboy fans. Hopefully we will get to see Jawun take the Big Baller himself, Lonzo Ball, to school.
