Oklahoma State defensive end Nathan Latu became the first Poke to turn pro in 2024.

Equity Sports announced via X on Saturday that Latu signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent. The 2024 NFL Draft concluded Saturday evening without any OSU players being selected, but other Cowboys should follow Latu soon by joining NFL teams via free agency.

Latu was at OSU for three years after transferring from Snow College before the 2021 season. He got playing time his first two seasons in Stillwater but did not crack the starting lineup until this past season, starting in five games and playing in all 14. Latu, listed at 6-foot-4, recorded 31 tackles, five tackles for loss and three sacks as a super senior. His best outing was against Central Arkansas in the Cowboys’ season opener, when he had six tackles and 1.5 sacks — both career highs — in his first career start.

As a senior in 2022, Latu played in 10 of the Cowboys’ games, getting 14 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and four sacks coming off the bench. Three of those four sacks came in the last three games of the season, catapulting Latu to a starting role the following season.

Latu originally committed to BYU out of Olympus High School in Salt Lake City before going the junior college route to Snow College, where he played under former OSU player Andrew Mitchell.
