Former Oklahoma State Running Back Jaden Nixon Transfers to Western Michigan
Nixon spent three seasons in Stillwater.
Jaden Nixon went north for football season.
Nixon, who played running back at Oklahoma State for three seasons, is on Western Michigan’s roster after transferring from Stillwater in December before the Cowboys played Texas A&M in the Texas Bowl.
He was relief for Ollie Gordon last season, rushing for 197 yards and a touchdown on 50 carries, while also catching 12 passes for 123 yards and another score. He also returned kicks and punts.
Despite little opportunity, Nixon still played a major role in getting the Cowboys to Arlington for the Big 12 Championship game against Texas. In OSU’s regular-season finale against BYU, he caught a swing pass on 4th-and-2 before running over a defender for a first down. The play kept the drive going and it resulted in a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. Although OSU probably misses a shot at the Big 12 title without Nixon, he did not make the trip to Arlington that next week and entered the transfer portal two weeks later.
From Lone Star High School in Dallas, Nixon was a three-star recruit and chose OSU over offers from Air Force, Army, Louisiana, Tulsa and others. He redshirted his first year in Stillwater before earning honorable mention honors as Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year and was an honorable mention on the All-Big 12 team in 2022.
With Nixon’s departure, OSU added AJ Green from Arkansas and Trent Howland from Indiana through the transfer portal this offseason. Redshirt freshman Sesi Vailahi also returns after relieving Gordon in the Big 12 Championship.
