A former priority target for Oklahoma State is about to hit the open market.

Texas wide receiver Brenen Thompson is set to enter the transfer portal, according to multiple reports Wednesday. The former Top 100 recruit will have three years of eligibility remaining, which, given the flood of exits at receiver for OSU this offseason, makes him a possible target for the Pokes.

Thompson was a four-star prospect and the No. 94 recruit in the 2022 class according to 247Sports. He held 36 offers including the likes of Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma and several other bluebloods, but the Cowboys made an impression the last go around.

Thompson took both an official and unofficial visit to Stillwater and named the Cowboys in his final three schools along with in-state schools Texas and Texas A&M. He ultimately landed in Austin.

Thompson appeared in nine games as a true freshman and caught his lone pass last season against his former finalist in Stillwater. The 5-foot-10, 163-pounder receiver was also a track star for the Longhorns, running a 10.38 100m in the spring of 2021.

Oklahoma State lost four of its top five receiving in terms of total yards this offseason but does return Brennan Presley and Iowa transfer Arland Bruce, both of similar size and figure to play the slot, but the opportunity to land another talented (and speedy) playmaker who Cowboy coaches are familiar with would make a lot of sense.
