Former Walk-On Philip Redwine-Bryant Earns Scholarship
Philip Redwine-Bryant got some good news just ahead of his final fall camp. According to GoPokes.com, the redshirt senior linebacker who played all 13 games for the Cowboys last season was offered a scholarship.
Redwine-Bryant played sparingly in the first two seasons following his redshirt year in 2015. But he followed that up with a featured role on special teams in 2018, recording five tackles on kickoff duty.
At Big 12 Media Days (Redwine-Bryant was on-hand), Mike Gundy talked about his impact on the team as well as his winning smile.
“He’s awesome, you know, a young man whose talent level and him getting on the field is a heckuva accomplishment.” Gundy said at Big 12 Media Days of Redwine-Bryant. “We’re all not born with world-class pro level talent. He has a very attractive smile and he’s an optimist. He is positive all of the time. I enjoy being around him and he is going to be successful no matter what he does.” [247Sports]
Redwine-Bryant looks to take on an even bigger role in OSU’s defense during his final year as one of the Cowboys’ more experienced linebackers.
