Four-star Dallas Skyline Receiver Names OSU Among Top 10 Schools

The Pokes are battling Bama (and others) for a top-100 WR.

While the 2020 recruiting class is yet to be finalized, the OSU staff has already begun its preparations for 2021 with dozens of offers. One of those targets in particular, Dallas Skyline receiver Quaydarius Davis, took the next step in his recruitment over the weekend by trimming his list of top schools to ten.

Among the 10 are OSU, Kansas and Texas from the Big 12. Also included are Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M and Florida, as well as Minnesota, SMU and Utah. Stiff competition for the Pokes.

OSU wouldn’t normally recruit — much less be in the mix — for a player of Davis’ caliber (No. 95 prospect in 2021; top-20 player at his position nationally.) But for OSU, a program that boasts more Biletnikoff winners than any in the country, a player of Davis’ caliber is to be expected.

That still won’t make getting Davis easy for receivers coach Kasey Dunn. To get him, he must out-recruit the likes of Nick Saban, Tom Herman (lol), P.J. Fleck and others, but the Cowboys offer a top-flight offense that’s receiver friendly, a path to the NFL, and geographically aren’t too far from home, either.

Davis’ 247Sports crystal ball currently reads 100 percent in favor of Texas, with national and local recruiting insiders pegging him to pick the Longhorns. TBD on if those projections still ring true when Herman’s seat gets toasty like seat warmers after another season of not meeting expectations and coming nowhere close to Big 12 title contention.
