Four-star Class of 2024 defensive back recruit Ka’Davion Dotson trimmed his options from 27 to five over the holiday weekend and included the Cowboys as one of three Big 12 finalists under final consideration with his recruitment winding down. Dotson, from Duncanville, Texas, has been on OSU’s radar for well over two years after the Cowboys were one of his first offers at the power conference level.

A 6-foot, 180-pound recruit, Dotson rates as the No. 236 overall player in the 247Sports Composite rankings and the No. 29 player at his position according to 247Sports’ rankings. OSU is in the mix alongside TCU, Texas, SMU and LSU to secure his services.

OSU offered Dotson a scholarship in early May 2021 and reeled him to Stillwater for a camp visit a month later to help secure its standing as a viable suitor in his recruitment. That courtship has continued well over two years now, with another return visit — this time on an official basis — scheduled for early June.

“(Defensive passing game coordinator Tim) Duffie has always been my guy from the beginning,” Dotson told Dave Campbell’s Texas Football recently. “He was one of the first coaches to pull the trigger on me when I was young. I’ve seen him develop a lot of great DBs over the years.”

It’s unclear exactly when Dotson is expected to commit but only OSU and SMU are on his docket of official visits, and he is likely to make a decision sometime before his season officially begins later this summer.
