The top prospect in the state of Oklahoma for the 2025 class is down to two schools: Oklahoma State and Oklahoma.
CJ Nickson, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound edge rusher from Weatherford, announced Thursday that he is down to the Bedlam rivals. 247Sports and ESPN each rank Nickson as the best prospect in the state, with 247Sports listing him as the No. 74 2025 prospect in the country. Along with the two in-state schools, Nickson also had offers to Georgia, Miami, LSU, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Baylor, Auburn, Kansas, Mississippi State, Texas Tech and others.

Nickson played both sides of the ball for Weatherford this past season, catching 34 passes for 577 yards and five touchdowns as a receiver while contributing 54 tackles, four tackles for loss and a sack as a defender.
Not only is Nickson a high-level athlete on the gridiron, but he also excels on the hardwood. Nickson has a handful of Division-I basketball offers and plays AAU ball with Team Griffin — the same program that produced Brandon Garrison and Connor Dow. Nickson has averaged 12.3 points and 3.4 rebounds a game in EYBL play.
All of the major recruiting services list Nickson as a four-star prospect, with ESPN and 247Sports each considering him a Top-100 player in the class.
OSU offered Nickson back in January of 2023, a handful of days after he announced an offer from the Sooners.
Nickson took an official visit to Stillwater this past weekend and is set to visit OU starting June 21.
OSU has 12 commitments thus far in its 2025 class. Three of those commits play defense in linebacker Kyle Keya, defensive lineman Jordan Covington and defensive lineman Alexander McPherson. The Cowboys’ class ranks 26th nationally and fourth in the Big 12.
