Four-Star Sharpshooter Ryan Crotty Commits to Oklahoma State
Crotty hit 46% of his 3s in prep ball last season.
The first high school commit of the Steve Lutz era is here, and he can shoot.
Ryan Crotty announced his commitment to Oklahoma State on Thursday after taking an official visit to Stillwater last weekend. He’s a 6-foot-5 guard out of North Carolina who plays his high school ball at Miller School in Virginia.
Crotty is a four-star prospect, listed as the No. 107 player in the 247Sports Composite ranking for the 2025 class. He chose OSU over offers from Clemson, Miami, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and others. 247Sports is the highest among the major recruiting services on Crotty, listing him as the No. 90 player from the class.
With Miller School, Crotty averaged 18.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists a game last season while shooting 46% from 3 on 312 attempts. He plays his summer ball with Boo Williams on Nike’s EYBL circuit, where he averaged 12.8 points a game at Peach Jam and was a perfect 12-for-12 from the foul line. In EYBL games in April and May, Crotty averaged 14.2 points while shooting 35% from 3 and 83% from the line.
Lutz and his staff have had to go to work this offseason filling the Cowboys’ current roster, as OSU brought in 10 new scholarship players by way of the transfer portal. But Crotty becomes the first high schooler Lutz and his staff have landed. Because of all of that work in the portal, Lutz is going to have a healthy amount of scholarships to work with next offseason, as seven players on OSU’s roster as listed as seniors (including graduate students and fifth years).
Crotty was on of three players who took official visits to Stillwater this past weekend. Jayden Leverett, a 6-10 forward out of El Paso, and JoJo McIver, a 6-3 guard from Killeen, also took in Stillwater last weekend.
As a one-man class, Crotty puts OSU’s class up to 25th in the country. That’s good for second in the Big 12 behind Iowa State, a program that has three commits to this point.
