Steve Lutz Hosting Trio of Official Visitors to Oklahoma State This Weekend
It’s official visit season on the hardwood.
It’s obviously a big weekend for the Oklahoma State football team, but it could be a big weekend for the future of the Cowboy basketball program, as well.
New OSU coach Steve Lutz is hosting three official visitors this weekend with the Cowboys hosting South Dakota State on the gridiron. Those three hoopers taking in the festivities are Ryan Crotty, Jayden Leverett and JoJo McIver. Here is a little bit about each guy.
Ryan Crotty
Crotty’s recruitment shifted up a gear in June, a month where Oklahoma State, Clemson, West Virginia, Mississippi State and Miami all offered.
He’s a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from North Carolina who plays his preps ball at Miller School in Virginia. He averaged 18.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists a game as a junior last season, according to MaxPreps, while shooting 46% from 3-point range on 312 attempts.
He played with Boo Williams on Nike’s EYBL circuit this summer, averaging 12.8 points a game at Peach Jam while shooting 32% from deep and a perfect 12-for-12 from the foul line. In a two-game stretch at Peach Jam, Crotty went 8-for-17 (47%) from 3. In EYBL games in April and May, Crotty averaged 14.2 points and five rebounds a game while shooting 35% from 3 and 83% from the line. He dropped 27 points in a game against the Georgia Stars, where Crotty hit five 3s and was 8-for-8 from the stripe.
ESPN and 247Sports list Crotty as a four-star prospect, with the latter service marking him as the No. 90 player in the 2025 class. According to 247Sports, Crotty also has official visits lined up to Miami, Virginia Tech and Clemson.
Jayden Leverett
Out of El Paso, Jayden Leverett is a 6-foot-10, 220-pound center with offers to Colorado, Mississippi State, SMU, TCU, Texas and others.
He was his district’s Defensive Player of the Year last season at El Paso Chapin. During his junior season, he averaged 14.1 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.9 blocks a game, per MaxPreps, shooting 64% from the field. He also isn’t too fearful of the 3 for a big man, hitting 11 of his 24 attempts (46%) as a junior while making 65% of his foul shots.
He played this summer with It’s Fox Nation on the Under Armour circuit this summer. In 19 games, he averaged 8.4 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.3 blocks a game.
On3 and 247Sports list Leverett as a three-star prospect, with the former pinning him as the No. 134 player in the 2025 class.
JoJo McIver
Out of the same high school that hosted OSU sophomore Jamyron Keller, JoJo McIver picked up an OSU offer last week and is already making his way to to Stillwater. Out of Killeen Ellison High School, McIver also has offers to Colorado State, Oral Roberts, SMU and others.
He helped lead Ellison to a 35-6 record as a junior, as the Eagles made it all the way to the Texas 5A state championship game.
A 6-foot-3 point guard, McIver played with the Texas-based Drive Nation on Nike’s EYBL circuit this summer. He averaged eight points and 2.2 assists a game at Peach Jam while hitting five of his nine 3-point attempts (56%). In EYBL games in April and May, McIver averaged eight points and 3.1 assist a game while going 9-for-20 (45%) from 3 and hitting 82% of his foul shots.
247Sports lists McIver as a three-star prospect and the No. 20 player from the state of Texas in the 2025 class.
