Freshman LC Greenwood Says Track at OSU is a ‘Possibility’
While many signed recruits have used the football offseason to work out or just to rest, incoming freshman receiver LC Greenwood was running.
Track season just ended, and Greenwood competed in the 200-meter, 4×400-meter relay and the 4×100-meter relay for his high school. He is signed to play football for the Cowboys in the 2017 season, but he said running track at OSU remains “a possibility.”
“It depends on how the season goes,” Greenwood said.
But he isn’t the only Cowboy recruit in the 2017 class who was out running. Just a few days after his graduation from Lakeview Centennial High School, he will report in Stillwater for summer camp June 2 and move in with his roommates and fellow freshmen receivers Tylan Wallace and Braydon Johnson. They’ve met.
“It makes you more comfortable,” Greenwood said. “I’ve encountered them in track season because they’re track runners, too.”
It has been a hectic few months for Greenwood since National Signing Day. Track kept him busy. He was nominated for prom king last weekend. Spring football practice just started, so he is out there helping the younger guys through it. And now he has to get ready to leave for Stillwater in a few weeks.
“Finally starting to pack my bags and stuff, getting my stuff together,” Greenwood said.
Greenwood also attended an awards ceremony Thursday night. He said it’s all been such a blessing to see where some of his friends have signed to play collegiately and even those who didn’t, it’s still just a fun time.
Not everything is so easy though. Greenwood said the hardest part about the transition process to college is living on his own. No mom to do laundry, pack a lunch or say good night.
“The waking up, being on my own part,” Greenwood said. “Not having anyone to wake you up and all that.”
Greenwood said though learning how to live on his own might be tough, there’s one thing that he is most excited about when he gets to Stillwater.
“Playing football,” Greenwood said. “Taking on the challenge.”
