Freshman Tracker: Thabo Mwaniki Makes Presence Felt Against Pitt

It’s still fairly early in the season and injuries could always play a factor in freshmen playing time, but the way things look right now, there will be just three true freshmen seeing the field for OSU this season: J.D. King, Tylan Wallace and Thabo Mwaniki.
So far, all three have been valuable contributors for the Pokes. On Saturday against Pitt, it was again safety Thabo Mwaniki who made his mark on the game with two more solo tackles to add to his running total of 7 on the season.
On offense, backup running back J.D. King was the bell cow of the backfield, toting it 16 times for 40 tough yards. It wasn’t always pretty, but his ramming into traffic between the tackles all day opened up shots down the field like this to his fellow freshman Tylan Wallace.
Below is the updated season totals for the frosh trio after this weekend’s contest against Pitt.
