Friday Night Highlights: Oklahoma State Defensive Commits Have Big Weekend

Oklahoma State commits went 10-1 this past weekend with myriad defensive pledges having standout performances.

Here is a look at how the Cowboy commits played on the high school gridiron this past weekend with stats and highlights provided if available.

Willie Nelson / DB / Longview (3-1) / Texas

Willie Nelson’s Longview Lobos are 3-1 after shutting out Lufkin (Dez Bryant’s alma mater) 42-0.

Nelson had an interception, four tackles, a pass breakup and a 49-yard punt return.

The Lobos play at Lancaster on Friday.


Armstrong Nnodim / DL / Horn (3-1) / Texas

After suffering their first loss last week, the Horn Jaguars beat Arlington 21-7 this past weekend.

OSU commit Armstrong Nnodim was credited with nine tackles, including 4.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks. He also had three quarterback hurries, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Through four games of his senior season, Nnodim has 33 tackles, 19 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks.

Horn hosts North Forney on Friday.


Temerrick Johnson / Edge / Midlothian Heritage (4-0) / Texas

Temerick Johnson had a solid game in Midlothian Heritage’s 38-7 win over Burleson.

Johnson was credited with six tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry.

Johnson and Midlothian Heritage host 0-4 Joshua on Friday.


David Kabongo / S / Byron Nelson (4-0) / Texas

David Kabongo remains unbeaten in his senior season, as Byron Nelson topped Fossil Ridge 52-7.

There aren’t stats for the game on MaxPreps, but Kabongo’s Hudl reveals he returned a punt for a touchdown in the game.

Byron Nelson hosts Timber Creek on Friday.


Luke Webb / DL / Deer Park (4-0) / Texas

Luke Webb and his Deer Park Deer continued their unbeaten start to 2023 with a 49-6 win over Clear Brook.

There weren’t stats on MaxPreps, but Webb uploaded a highlight reel to Hudl that shows him disrupting things as a defender and even throwing a nice block as a tight end.

Deer Park hosts Dobie on Friday.


Gunnar Wilson / LB / Melissa (4-0) / Texas

Gunnar Wilson’s Melissa Cardinals can put up some points. Melissa beat Crandall 67-28 this weekend.

There weren’t stats on MaxPreps and Wilson hasn’t yet posted highlights from this game to his Hudl, but he did throw together a reel from his first three games.


Josh Ford / TE / Stillwater (1-2) / Oklahoma

The Stillwater Pioneers got in the win column this week with a 28-6 win over Norman.

MaxPreps didn’t have stats for Stillwater posted, but OSU tight end commit Josh Ford showed his willingness to block on his Hudl.

Stillwater travels to U.S. Grant on Thursday.


Tre Griffiths / WR / Keller (4-0) / Texas

Tre Griffiths and Keller remained unbeaten with a 36-20 win against V.R. Eaton.

Griffiths had a nine-yard reception.

Keller plays at Keller Central on Friday.


Caleb Hackleman / OL / Pleasant Grove (4-0) / Texas

Caleb Hackleman and the Pleasant Grove Hawks are rolling. They beat Memorial 63-21 this past weekend.

Pleasant Grove went into halftime with a 49-7 lead.

The Hawks host Paris (Texas, not France) on Friday.


Jonathan Agumadu / LB / McKinney (4-0) / Texas

Jonathan Agumadu and the McKinney Lions ran past Little Elm 51-10.

Agumadu had six tackles and a pass breakup.

McKinney hosts Boyd on Friday.


Landyn Cleveland / S / Mansfield Legacy (1-3) / Texas

The tough start to Mansfield Legacy’s season continues as the Broncos fell to the Mansfield Tigers 42-31 this past weekend.

Legacy didn’t have defensive stats on MaxPreps.

Legacy plays Dallas Skyline on Friday.


Rodney Fields / RB / Del City (3-0) / Oklahoma

Rodney Fields and his Del City Eagles had an off week but return to action Friday against East Central.


Chauncey Johnson / OL / Lonoke (1-2) / Arkansas

Chauncey Johnson and Lonoke also had the week off but play at Riverview on Friday.
