Grading the Uniforms: Black-Black-Gray Is Just Mean
I will be grading OSU’s uniforms each week using a criteria consisting of five categories.
Four of the five categories are on a scale of 1-5. The helmet will have its own rating. Aesthetics will be a rating of the flow of the uniform as a whole. The intimidation factor will simply be how intimidating the uniform looks. The accessories will be a rating of the gloves, socks, shoes, and sleeves. Additionally, the Cowboys get a point for winning. A perfect score is 21 points for the GOAT.
Let’s get to Saturday’s grade.
Helmet (4)
Phantom Pete has grown on me a lot since Cowboys 4Ever. As far as helmet rankings go, I actually have the plain black Phantom Pete helmet ranked just ahead of the chrome striped helmet. Kyle does not feel this way. The chrome works well with the new threads, though.
Aesthetics (5)
Black-Black-Gray just looks great, that’s all there is to it. Having Phantom Pete is an added bonus when black and gray are in the mix. This combo has looked awesome in the past, but now it’s on another level with the bandana pattern.
Intimidation (5)
Carson gets it.
These #okstate uniforms are MEAN.

Accessories (5)
The cleats had a chrome finish on the soles. The gloves were crazy. I saw some gray socks (!) and some black socks, both of which worked with this combo.
Win (0)
Hats off to Central Michigan for scoring on one of the craziest plays ever to win the game on the road on an untimed down that shouldn’t have happened.
