Grading The Uniforms: Chrome Pete Gets An ‘A’

I will be grading OSU’s uniforms each week using a criteria consisting of five categories.

Four of the five categories are on a scale of 1-5. The helmet will have its own rating. Aesthetics will be a rating of the flow of the uniform as a whole. The intimidation factor will simply be how intimidating the uniform looks. The accessories will be a rating of the gloves, socks, shoes, and sleeves. Additionally, the Cowboys get a point for winning. A perfect score is 21 points for the GOAT.

A look at the OSU-Iowa State Game

Helmet (4)

The orange chrome helmet has grown on me because last year I probably would have rated it 3/5. I’ll take it over the tiny Pete orange helmet any day.

Aesthetics (4)

Rating aesthetics 4/5 is probably too harsh for this category because Orange-Black-Orange is the definition of Oklahoma State. It is one of the best looks in our arsenal. However, I heard several comments about how the orange chrome helmet looked like it had a bit of a reddish tint to it. I can see it in certain lighting on some photos especially in comparison to the orange pants, but it wasn’t a complete mismatch.

Intimidation (5)

Iowa State didn’t seem to notice, but I thought they looked intimidating enough.

Accessories (5)

The accessories are always on point, but I particularly liked the socks for this game. They were black with the standard Nike design in orange. They are nothing new. but they’re definitely the thing to wear for this combo.

Just about anything can work when they wear something like Orange-Black-Orange. Ramon had a single black sleeve, Burton and Pipkins had a single orange sleeve, Seales had orange arm bands, and McCleskey and Washington kept it simple with the black wristbands/tape.
