Gundy Shows Compassion Toward Texas Tech Kicker Postgame
Oklahoma State snuck past Texas Tech in Stillwater in what turned out to be a nail-biter down to the end — something OSU fans have grown accustomed to over the last two years.
The Cowboys failed to score the entire fourth quarter and, with OSU allowing a touchdown with less than 2 minutes on the clock, the Red Raiders simply needed an extra point to tie the game up after storming back.
The extra point sailed wide right — which may not have even been the kickers fault! — ultimately sealing their fate unable to stop OSU in the closing minute.

Mike Gundy showed compassion for the young man after the game.
“He needs to realize there were a lot of plays in that game and he shouldn’t shoulder the blame,” Gundy commented after the game.
Of course, it’s easy for Gundy to say that being on the winning side. But I think it shows a soft side of Gundy that I certainly respect as a common fan. After missing the field goal, the kicker was clearly down in the dumps, and it showed on his face in the ensuing kickoff with him moping and hanging his head.
But Gundy is right, there were 162 total plays in the game on Saturday. It may have been what ultimately broke the game, but there were plenty of other opportunities throughout the game. Good on Gundy for commenting on it and being gracious after the game.
