The Cowboys head to neutral hardwood Saturday to play their first ranked team of the season in No. 14 Houston.

The Cougars are coming off a Final Four season and reloaded this offseason, bringing in Texas Tech transfer Kyler Edwards. Here is some info to get you ready for Saturday’s contest.

Series History

Before Mike Boynton took over in Stillwater these teams a state away from each other hadn’t played since the 1960s.

Oklahoma State leads the overall series 13-8, but in this century the teams are 1-1 against each other. The teams first met in 1951, a game OSU won 61-52. OSU started the series on a four-game winning streak before the Cougars pulled off a win in 1953.

More recently, the Cowboys and Cougars played back-to-back seasons in 2018-19 and 2019-20. The first of those two meetings saw Houston go to Gallagher-Iba Arena and pull off a 63-53 victory thanks to a 23-point outing from Armoni Brooks.

In the second of those meetings, OSU traveled to Houston and won 61-55 in a game the Cowboys started walk-on Dee Mitchell. That game saw Yor Anei score 18 points and bring down eight rebounds. Cameron McGriff also had a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double.
